GLMUA Charter

After preliminary planning meetings during the latter half of 1993, Greater Lake Michigan Urantia Association (GLMUA) was formally chartered in March of 1994 as a local affiliate of Urantia Association of the United States (UAUS), and of Urantia Association International (UAI). In 2023 GLMUA is celebrating the 30th year of service to the Urantia community, representing the Midwest, and is currently the local association with the largest number of paid members in the United States.

Members and friends enjoy staying connected with kindred spirits, and receiving an up-to-date calendar of coming events, such as the Spring Membership Study Luncheon, Jesus’ Birthday Celebration, Holiday Party & Program, Growing Together, Moonlight Worship, and occasional conferences hosted by GLMUA.

The photo featured above is of the GLMUA chartering ceremony in 1994, taken at Urantia Foundation in Chicago by Mark A. Kurtz. Those present included Trustees Richard Keeler, George Michelson-Dupont, Phil Rolnick, and Patricia Sadler-Mundelius. A few of the Foundation’s international visitors joined in the festivities, and we were honored to have two original members of the Forum in attendance, Helen Carlson and Lewis Boggs, as well as many longtime students of The Urantia Book who had formed study groups throughout the four-state region that GLMUA serves, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Those who attended the event in addition to those listed above included Maggie Bueter, Damian Bondi, Joan Bondi, Michael Ferree, Susan Grzeskowiak, Eddie King, Mark Kurtz, Michael Mason, Myriam Montanez, Judy Sadler, Kevin Schrock, Bob Solone, Jerry Strock, Wendell Wilson, and Carlos Zapata.
